You have questions. We have answers.

Simply complete a New Client Sign-Up form and submit it. There are no site inspections or additional fees required to sign up. All we need from you is your full name, business name and address, phone and email address, business license or Tax ID number and payment information. We only bill when we have completed your search request and results are available for delivery. Please note: payment for searches is required before any results will be delivered.

Search requests can be submitted online using our Search Request Form. Telephone orders cannot be accepted due to the potential for errors or typos that could occur. Please note: a New Client Sign-Up form must be completed and submitted before any work begins on the first initial search request, even if you’ve already joined the SJR Member Association. Any searches submitted at a later time do not need to be accompanied by the New Client Sign Up form, unless you need to update your information.

Search results will be delivered via email to your preferred email address.

We accept all major credit/debit cards or PayPal. No charges will be incurred or posted until the work has been completed and your search results are available for delivery.

All searches require basic information to begin, and most searches build off previously found information. If a required piece of information is missing on a submitted search request (ie: the subject’s social security number), we can sometimes find the missing piece and add it to your order and continue with the search.

Any information provided in a search request should be as complete and accurate as possible. Good information in to us returns excellent information out to you!

Please note: a copy of a judgment is required for most searches unless the requester is a licensed attorney, collection agency, licensed private investigator or registered process server.

Our bank search results include:

  • The name and branch address of all banks where open and active accounts have been identified that are associated with the search subject.
  • The current balance in all accounts located.
  • The date and amount of any last deposit or transaction activity (if available – it usually is) for all accounts located.
  • Notification of jointly held accounts (if that information is made available).
  • Notification of any possible business accounts identified that may be associated with the subject when conducting a search for personal accounts; and, the reverse is true if personal accounts are identified when we’re searching for business accounts. Even if no open or active business or personal accounts are found, the search will still be designated as a ‘no hit’ and you’ll have the option to request a new business/personal search.
  • Information about closed, inactive, charged-off or security-masked accounts, credit card accounts, loans and mortgages are included in results, but are not designated as a ‘hit’.

For bank searches, our policy is that any reasonable activity that occurs within 30 days describes an ‘active account’ and is therefore invoiced as a ‘hit’. If there has been no recent activity and a there is a very low account balance, then the search would be invoiced as a ‘no hit’.

If our research indicates possible open and active accounts, but we are unable to access the account details to determine balance and accountholder information, we will still notify you about the possible account, but the search would be invoiced as a ‘no hit’. This happens occasionally, typically due to added security on the account (ie: mother’s maiden name, first grade teacher, etc.).

Yes! Whether we originally located the account or you already knew about it, we can check the balance for you. A bank balance check will give you a ‘snapshot’ of the subject’s account, providing the status of the account (open, closed, discharged, hold, etc.), the balance in the account on that day, as well as the date and amount of any last deposit or transaction activity (if available).

We abide by all federal laws, including the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLB Act), the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). We do not pretext on any bank search.

The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act did not make bank account locates illegal; but it did prohibit pretexting the bank, or the bank’s customer. We use ChexSystems and Swift to locate all bank accounts. It’s the same resources the banks use when a customer opens an account, or when a casino checks a customer’s credit.

We are prohibited from providing you with any account numbers, however, if you already know the account number, or you have a copy of a canceled check and you’d like to include the information in your search request criteria, that’s fine.

An exclusion is a way to exclude a known account, employer or other type of asset from a current search. The fee is $25 per excluded asset.

For example: If you are already aware of an account your search subject holds at Bank of America, but you suspect that he or she might have accounts at another institution, you can exclude Bank of America from the current search. That way, if no other open or active accounts are located, you will not incur the full ‘hit’ fee – just the regular ‘no hit’ fee plus the $25 exclusion fee.
The exclusion fee is only incurred if no other open or active accounts are located. If accounts are located at other institutions, the exclusion fee will not be applied.

For employment / current income searches our policy is that results are considered a ‘hit’ if any of the following conditions apply.

The search subject is:
  • Currently employed through a traditional employment relationship.
  • Independently contracted and receiving regular income or commission.
  • Owns a sole proprietorship (DBA) that is open and active.
  • Is a managing member or principal officer of a corporation, LLC or other entity in good standing with the Secretary of State.
  • Maintains an active website or a page through some other social media platform (ie: FaceBook) that accepts online payment.
Note: We do not request income or salary amounts. Exempt sources of income, such as disability or retirement benefits, welfare, etc., are not considered as an applicable source of income and are therefore designated as a ‘no hit’.

The average turn-around time for most searches is approximately 7-10 business days, and up to 15 business days for Employment / Current Income locates. Some searches require fewer steps and can typically be completed and returned in 1-2 days (Credit Header / SSN locates and Bank Balance Checks).

If you’re in a hurry you can request an expedited search. Expedited requests are moved to the front of the search queue and work begins on the search immediately. Results are typically available within 1-2 business days, depending on the nature of the request. A Rush Fee of 30% of the entire hit fee applies to all expedited search requests, regardless of the outcome of the search.
